Canon AE1, 50mm lens & expired (2012) Agfa colour filmPhoto06_6-2

Always try to stay unnoticed when shooting on the street, prime lens, no big camera bags, clothes that will allow me to fit in and blend with the public, never staying for too long in one place and practically marking a path in the well worn streets that I often walk…So when I went out with the Canon last week I was scuppered!

Photo12_12-2

Had forgotten the sound of the shutter was so loud, making people turn to see where the sound came from, this made candid street photography very difficult and so decided there are plenty of other things to capture in Blackpool without scaring the locals & holiday makers.

And so off I went in search of old signs,  sadempty hotels with deserted dining tables set for breakfasts and giant ice cream cones, I love the soft grain and the colours of these expired Agfa films which makes me think this could be something I do more frequently.

Salt & Vinegar

When passing a window and something makes you stop and view the scene before you, you then have to convince the owner of the closed diner to open the doors and let you in for 5 minutes, you’ll be quick, really quick you promise him,  you just have to get in and try to capture the image that was calling to you through the window. The table, those legs, the red benches, the repeated red slats on the benches, the glass window, everything perfect, everything so clean and quiet but it was the salt cellar and the vinegar bottle that brought it all together for me.P1480398

The Loneliness of the Hotel Bar

15 Wednesday Mar 2017

One of those moments when was walking along a busy main road about 9 at night and saw this image through a hotel bar window. It’s one of those scenes that I have no idea why I like it or why I have this mad feeling of having to capture it before someone walks in to the room and sits at a table ruining the loneliness. Still, the feeling was there and so I took the shot, mumbling to self about low light,  dodging passersby and trying not to get a self portrait in the reflection but happily it all seemed to work. Maybe not everyone’s ‘cup of tea’ but I really do like it and it’s looking like yellow leatherette could be a contender for favorite greasy spoon decor. “Red leather Yellow Leather Red Leather Yellow…..P1460395

a memory

Saw this memory on a wall down a back street on the backside of Blackpool and it made me stop…something somewhere in the back of my mind but I cant remember what. So frustrating when you see something that’s a link to something else, it could just be another photo from another photographer but there’s a memory there somewhere. And I liked it .p1440704

Sometimes other people’s misfortune give me the opportunity for a cracking shot and though I first thought this was a funky fake table decoration at the ice cream parlor, close inspection and that sweet milky smell convinced me that it was the real thing.img_2954

Fractals, Flames & Free Time

Having far too much free time on my hands lately between trying to find time to do everything and actually getting it done I decided to mess about and create something that expresses everything about my passion for music. Being brought up in theatre and dance I was surrounded by music all my life and my passion for anything I can dance to is obvious to those who know me well. I need some new art work for the kitchen which is being painted at the moment so thought I would try to create something different than the usual. Quite pleased with this, may create more and might just screen print it on wood.bsrr gold

P1070052aaNeeding to organise my mind this morning brought me again to a very favourite place. A long walk on the beach in the sunshine and once again I found myself lying flat on the damp sand in order to capture these elegant sand fences. The simplicity and repetition soothes this mad creativity that is crowding my thoughts.P1070051
