No reason other than I like the absence of advertising..
I saw these light fittings yesterday when, after a day of shooting dancers on Comedy Carpet and capturing the finishing touches of a new piece of urban art on a wall in a car park, I decided I deserved a brew. I ordered my cup of tea and as I sank thankfully on to the soft leatherette seating I spied these lights. I had to sort of move around a good bit and slide nearly horizontally along the seat as I tried to capture them so there wasnt too much natural light and end up overexposing the bulbs. People did exchange questioning glances but one of the benefits of getting to my age is I am past caring what people think and will do all sorts, go in places I shouldn’t, talk to all sorts and everyone and go to any lengths to get my shot of the day.
And yesterday that meant nearly lying down prostrate on the sofa in Caffe Nero.

A simple elegant design that I really love, no place better to sit in the summer with a bag of salty chips than on these steps. Maybe because they remind me of a Roman amphitheater… a place for viewing
or maybe just because I can always manage to get another shot of another unsuspecting member of the public as they sit enjoying the summer days.
And of course am partial to continuous repetitive lines and curves so must admit these steps are another of those little things that I like about Blackpool.
Needing to organise my mind this morning brought me again to a very favourite place. A long walk on the beach in the sunshine and once again I found myself lying flat on the damp sand in order to capture these elegant sand fences. The simplicity and repetition soothes this mad creativity that is crowding my thoughts.
Simply a red brick wall with a door…cant decide if the wall is holding the door together or if the door is holding the wall up.. In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “Wall.”

I love the way they stand to attention like little tin soldiers…protecting the hills and the coast through all sorts of severe weather. We get very strong winds along this coast, up to 90mph but these little posts stand their ground and protect the beach. Have grown to be very fond of them over the years and in early February when the light is just right mid morning its a great place to go to capture some minimalistic street photography.
