Audible Sigh

Sometimes, oftentimes, especially on this wonderful coast, the light of the spring sunset hits just right, catching the windows of deserted hotels and lighting the walls of their empty spaces. Closed and shuttered now, the ghosts of spring times past walk empty breakfast rooms.

Salt & Vinegar

When passing a window and something makes you stop and view the scene before you, you then have to convince the owner of the closed diner to open the doors and let you in for 5 minutes, you’ll be quick, really quick you promise him,  you just have to get in and try to captureContinue reading “Salt & Vinegar”

November light

Out searching for neon light but had to stop for a few minutes to appreciate the breathtaking beauty of the natural light on our coast. We have been very lucky this autumn with some very fine dry weather and the sunsets from Blackpool promenade have been beautiful.

Trying to stay afloat

Have been thinking and planning of taking photographs in water for some time now..always hoping to emulate the greats and get that perfect image of a sleek body swimming perfectly through the deep clear water… The reality however is a complete farce and very difficult to do.. While on holiday on the ‘Other Coast’ IContinue reading “Trying to stay afloat”

People watching & eavesdropping

Overheard conversation about the beautiful endless grey light we often find on the prom in Blackpool, the cool damp fog creating a colorless wall making it hard to define where the sky ends and the sea starts…or as a friend called it ‘The Horizon Mislaid’

Lower prom steps

A simple elegant design that I really love, no place better to sit in the summer with a bag of salty chips than on these steps. Maybe because they remind me of a Roman amphitheater… a place for viewing or maybe just because I can always manage to get another shot of another unsuspecting memberContinue reading “Lower prom steps”

set up

Saw this shattered bus stop window and knew immediately I had to do something with it..and so after some umming and ahing I tried to get the shot from inside the shelter..this wasn’t easy because there were people in the shelter waiting for the bus to open the doors and let them on. Well IContinue reading “set up”

red seats

Out meandering again this week…wasn’t my intention to waste time as had somewhere I needed to be but ended up dilly dallying along the deserted back streets and was duly rewarded for wasting time…turned a corner and there they were. Held together by peeling paint and rust these red seats really cheered me up andContinue reading “red seats”

North Sea, mist and the faint line of the horizon..my thalassotherapy

It was hard to see where the sky ended and the sea started at the weekend but this grey light is something I love and something that inspires me at this time of year. I have recently had the privilege of being in the company of someone who also loves this light so this isContinue reading “North Sea, mist and the faint line of the horizon..my thalassotherapy”
