I wonder how many other photographers get commissioned to shoot something, get all prepared and set up, then while waiting the light suddenly changes and you get that one shot that makes the whole day worthwhile. This happened to me last week…while shooting a female hockey team for a calendar the junior team were training, the sun setting and as I waited I turned and caught this lovely light…nothing special about the image but its my fave of the day…
maybe it’s nostalgia for summer training years ago, memories of running in the fading light, chasing after a ball while the opposing team aimed hard and fast at my shins and ankles… well, it just awoke a memory hiding somewhere at the back of my mind and I had to capture the moment while the light lasted and the girls played on.

Dawn continues to work on her #DocumentingBlackpool & #PortraitofBlackpool series and is currently creating and co-curating exhibitions and community art projects at HIVE Blackpool.
