I think this is the last post for today but will probably be up in the middle of the night again tonight and weather permitting will probably wander down to the prom…shame I don’t drive or would probably go farther afield..P1260837

another early morning

Woke at 5 this morning which is better than 4 I suppose but not as good as 6..anyway thought I would wander and wonder at the wonderful wonders of the early morning..P1270106the waning moon was the first thing to greet me as I crept out of the back door, she was looking very pale after her colourful exhibition of the previous night, a lone gull squawking and crying for it’s mate.. The sunrise didn’t disappoint and filled the sky with beautiful coloursP1270063aaTurning from red, pinks and purples to gold, a light mist lifting from the wet ground the estuary was really showing off her beauty.P1270133

The benefits of not sleeping

27 Sunday Sep 2015

Tags

a northern town, attimi della vita, birds, coast, insomnia, Lytham Estuary, Lytham Windmill, morning light, northwest coast, Panasonic lumix, photography, seabirds, The Daily Post

The benefits of having a bad night and not sleeping very well is that you get to go out in what feels like the middle of the night but is really 5:30 on a lovely Sunday morning..it was quite chilly and crisp this morning so in anticipation of the supermoon eclipse due tonight I dragged on layers of clothing and wandered down to the estuary to enjoy the peace & quiet and see what I could see.P1260830The light is really beautiful on this coast and the air was filled with the sound of the birds waking up and flocking along the estuary to feed. P1260961Am happy I woke too early today ’cause I got to see those things others missed and capture with my camera those little ‘attimi della vita’ that won’t happen again.P1260945

Manchester is always a pleasure to visit and this ‘retro televisions & filing cabinets’ cut out and paste urban art certainly caught my eye in the northern quarter last weekend. Love the little ornaments too!P1230880

red & black

1/8000sec, Blackpool, colour photography, f22, Lumix G2, northwest coast, photography, red, sky, sunset, The Daily Post

I don’t take many  photographs of sunsets cause as have said before I don’t feel I can do justice to the beauty of nature but when I was out after dinner yesterday I stopped and had breath taken awayas the sun slowly sank into the sea. Thinking quickly to get something totally different than the usual sunset image I changed settings in camera, f22 and the fastest shutter speed I could find and this is what I captured. I really like the negative black space, the streaky red sky and drama of this image…came home feeling pretty pleased with self.IMG_6012

she’s in love…the writing on the wall

15 Tuesday Sep 2015

more street from the Northern Quarter in Manchester…the city is fabulous for street photography, there’s an image everywhere and the writing on the wall in this image made me stop and look twice…a little bit sinister I think, have tried to find the author but had no luck.P1230937

I just had to get a shot of these fabulous legs while I was out ‘on the streets’ in Manchester..how could I resist, I did manage to make out the words ‘beautiful disaster’ tattooed just below her bottom and loved the guy sitting on the steps with the expression of not really knowing where to look.P1230835aaa

My brother Simon and Scotland

14 Monday Sep 2015

Tags

beach, beaches, east coast, fife coastal path, Kingdom of Fife, north sea, photography, Scotland, seaside, St Andrews, sunrise, sunset

Years ago I asked my brother Simon why he loved exploring Scotland so much… after a short pause his answer was simple -“God lives there”- and I think he’s right.P1250582

Like everyone I love sunrises and sunsets but very rarely photograph them because am usually in awe of the beauty and know that a photograph will never do justice to the majesty of nature, however on a recent too short a trip to the rightly named Kingdom of Fife I couldn’t resist getting up while it was still dark and waiting for the above to happen. So there I was waiting for nature to take my breath away and at 5:25am she did exactly that.

P1250422Nature showed her beauty in the evening too as we sat on the balcony watching the changing colours of the sky..so I do understand now what my darling brother meant..yes it really is heaven.
